Point of Sale
A point of sale (POS) is the place where sales are made. On a macro level, a POS may be a mall, a market or a city. On a micro level, retailers consider a POS to be the area where a customer completes a transaction, such as a checkout counter. A retail point of sale system typically includes a computer, monitor, cash drawer, receipt printer, customer display and a barcode scanner and the majority of retail POS systems also include a debit/credit card reader.
A point of sale (POS) system is used by businesses as a way to make transactions, record sales, and track inventory. Depending upon the system, there are a variety of other functions it can perform to accommodate the specific needs of a business. With all the features and customization a POS system can offer, it can be a sound investment for your business.
